Rethinking package building at Jimdo

1 minute read

Earlier this week I gave a talk at the Infracoders meetup in Hamburg. My talk was titled “Rethinking package building at Jimdo”. Here is the abstract:

Building Debian packages isn’t always fun. In fact, it can be a pain from time to time. In this presentation, Mathias talks about the challenges of package building at Jimdo and what it means to create a build system that everybody can use.

This was the first time I used Deckset for building my slides. By taking over most of the design work, Deckset allowed me to focus on the content of my presentation (and being able to write every part of it in Markdown is just fabulous). I was pleased with the outcome, but see for yourself.

I hope that my slides together with the demo will give you a good-enough picture of what this is all about. I’m not going to touch on the technical details again here. If you still want to know more about my talk – or package building in general – please leave a comment below or contact me directly.

Furthermore, I took the opportunity to create a page that lists all talks I’ve given so far.

Update: I wrote an article for Codeship based on the lessons I learned at Jimdo.
